Inclement Weather

We are committed to providing families with accurate and prompt information in the event of inclement weather and other urgent matters impacting our schools and community.

If the weather becomes inclement during the evening/night hours, district operations, transportation, and safety teams are prepared to check road conditions as early as 4 a.m. to ensure they are safe for buses, taking rural roads into account.

Bullard ISD Police Officers, the Transportation Supervisor, and District Administrators will then share information with the Superintendent. The Superintendent will decide whether to announce a delayed opening or a school closure by approximately 5:00 a.m.

Bullard ISD uses the following methods of communication to relay urgent information to district families and the broader community:

  • ParentSquare Notification (phone calls, texts, emails)
  • Bullard ISD website
  • Bullard ISD social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
  • Local radio and TV stations

Otherwise, if the district does not send a notification, campuses will open and operate as scheduled.

If winter weather conditions worsen during the school day, the district determines whether an early release is needed to get students home sooner and bus drivers back to the bus headquarters safely before darkness. If an early release time is set, families will receive ParentSquare notifications with pick-up and/or transportation information.
