Hi everyone. Thank you for visiting my "All About Me Page"!   My name as you can see is Darla Cottingham.  I am the Librarian here at the Elementary School, although this is not where I got my start in this AWESOME school district.

"It's time to go back to the beginning!"

I started working at the BISD in 1999.  My first four years (1999-2003) were spent serving at the what's now Bullard Early Childhood School in the Life Skills class.  At that time we had students ranging in age from 3 - 12.  My next four years (2003-2007) were getting to know coach Rooney as I aided her corralling pre-k - 3rd grade students at the now BEC in the mornings and the 4th and 5th grade students at the Intermediate in the afternoon.  You would think with all that physical education I would be fit, not so much.  From 2007-2010 I worked at the AEP school and ISS at the High School.  I then headed back to my old stomping grounds and went to work for the Intermediate school as Librarian for 3 years (2010-2013).  Which brings me to my current position, Librarian at the Elementary school.  I have been working here, at the Elementary for going on 4 years (2013-present).  It has been a wonderful 18 years of forming lifelong friendships, encouraging others and being encouraged by others, lots of laughs and a few tears here and there.  But the greatest reward for me is watching these students, starting here as babies growing into young adults, excited to start their future as Policemen, Doctors, Lawyers, Managers, Teachers, Senators and possibly President but no doubt someone helping others.  Thank you Mrs. Hurst for taking a chance on me!
