Smith County Officials awarded Bullard ISD officials with the Smith County Community Hero Award Wednesday for opening a shelter up to residents who suffered storm damages last month.
The Bullard Intermediate School opened on June 4, 2024, and remained open for several days. American Red Cross ran the facility and Smith County Community Emergency Response Team assisted, in coordination with Bullard ISD.
County Judge Neal Franklin and Emergency Management Coordinator Brandon Moore presented the award to Bullard ISD Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee and Bullard ISD Police Chief Pat Hendrix.
Lee said they were happy to help the community. Smith County appreciates them coming through for their community during a time of emergency!
