New Middle School Opening Details

Bullard Bond 2022 rendering of new middle school front

We are so excited to welcome students and staff to the new Bullard Middle School as we kick off the spring semester! The new campus is part of the BullardBond2022 approved by voters in May of 2022.

When we return from Winter Break, staff will report to the new campus starting January 5, and students will join us there on January 7.

Please take a few minutes to review the information below about arrival and dismissal times, traffic flow, and safety tips. We will send this information out again as a reminder before school starts in January.

With any new beginning, it may take a few days to get into a routine—and that’s okay. The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority, and by working together, this transition can be a smooth one. We will continue to evaluate traffic flow and patterns and will make adjustments as needed. We appreciate your patience and cooperation in advance.

TxDOT Safety Enhancements

As a reminder, TxDOT is reducing the speed limit along US69 to 45 mph and has installed a temporary traffic light at US69 and FM2493E until the overpass project is complete (2027/28 timeframe). Please allow yourself extra time in the mornings and afternoons to arrive at school safely and on time.

Bullard ISD Police Officers and additional law enforcement will be in the area to assist with traffic flow.

Arrival and Dismissal Times and Traffic Patterns

Arrival Times
Middle School arrival times will be the same as usual, with the first bell ringing at 7:40 a.m. and the tardy bell at 7:44 a.m. Doors will open at 7:05 a.m.

NEW DISMISSAL TIME
Students will be released at 3:20 p.m. This earlier dismissal time allows buses to load and still return to the other campuses at their usual times.

Car Line Entrance/Loading Lanes
Car riders will be dropped off and picked up in front of the building using the first entrance. Buses will use the second entrance and will load and unload in the back of the building.

To help reduce congestion on 2493E during dismissal, there will be three loading lanes. Cars will fill lane one first, then lane two, and lastly lane three. Cars may begin staging in the lanes at 2 p.m. When school is dismissed, lane one will proceed first until fully emptied, followed by lane 2 and lane 3, respectively. Administrators will be on hand the first few days to help ensure this process runs smoothly.

Suggested Traffic Routes

We expect heavier traffic along FM 2493 between the high school and US 69, both for those traveling to the new middle school and for drivers returning to other campuses. When heading toward the middle school, this route can be challenging to turn off 2493 onto US 69 and move into the left-turn lane before the traffic light. Likewise, when leaving the middle school, making a left turn from US 69 onto FM 2493 can be difficult.

To help reduce congestion and improve safety, we recommend accessing US 69 using either Main Street or Highway 344 (Henderson Street). For drivers returning to other campuses from the middle school, Highway 344 is also a good option. Another alternative is to remain on US 69 and turn around past Brookshire’s, then use Lynch Street or Main Street.

Bus Route Info

All bus routes will continue to pick up students at their usual morning pick-up time.

Afternoon routes are expected to be around 30 minutes later than usual, especially the first few days of the semester. If additional adjustments are needed for specific routes, this info will be communicated directly to families on those routes.
