Love and Support: BMS Builders Club students host Breast Cancer Survivors Breakfast

Pink Pumpkin for breast cancer awareness

Bullard Middle School Builders Club, a student-led service organization for middle school students sponsored by Kiwanis, hosted its annual Breast Cancer Survivors Breakfast on Friday, Oct. 29.

Students and staff treated guests to a delicious breakfast and heard their inspiring stories and words of encouragement for all women currently fighting breast cancer.

"We had eight guests join us this year, and one is just beginning her journey," Builders Club sponsor Michele Warden said. "Hearing the others' stories helped encourage her and put many of her fears and nervousness to the side."

Students and staff, along with help from Allstate Insurance, provided the breakfast items. Assistant Principal Jake Goode offered a prayer of love, thanksgiving, and support for those in attendance and others who are currently fighting a battle against breast cancer.

More than 30 students are in the BMS Builders Club. In addition to the Breast Cancer Survivor Breakfast, the group also completes service projects at other BISD campuses and creates handmade valentines for patients in local hospitals through the KVNE Valentines for Kids and Seniors program.
