Honoring Survivors: Bullard Middle School hosts annual Breast Cancer Survivor Breakfast

Bullard Middle School recently hosted its annual Breast Cancer Survivor Breakfast to honor Bullard ISD employees and loved ones of BMS students who have fought or are currently battling the disease.

Each year, a student group coordinates this event. This year, the school implemented a “house” system to foster community and character among students, with each "House" serving a distinct purpose. The student group called the Elevators, from the “House of Uplifters,” chose to host the breakfast because, as BMS teacher Lawren Phillips explained, “we see breast cancer survivors as strong women who uplift other women and families navigating similar journeys.”

Mrs. Phillips emphasized that the breakfast serves not only as a sign of support and recognition but also as a means to raise awareness in the community.

“It’s important for our kids to understand that life will throw many challenges their way, regardless of their age or how fortunate their lives may seem,” said Phillips. “In difficult times, it’s how you respond to those challenges and what you learn from them that truly shapes who you are. The attendees of the breakfast not only motivate each other but also inspire those around them.”
