Coffee with the Counselors

On Friday, Oct. 20, Bullard ISD counselors will hold their first Coffee with the Counselors event for parents of 6th through 12th grade students. The informal discussion will take place in the Audry B. Owens Auditorium at Bullard High School. A second event designed specifically for elementary parents (kindergarten through 5th grade) will occur in the spring.

Coffee with the Counselors is an opportunity for parents to learn about topics affecting students today from experts in various areas. In September, district counselors sent parents a Parent Assessment Survey to gather feedback on topics their student may be struggling with or topics parents would like to learn more about.

As a result of this survey, Friday’s Coffee with the Counselors will feature guest speaker Darlene Marshall, chief education officer with the Children's Advocacy Center. Marshall will discuss anxiety, stress management, and screen time/technology use with teens.

“As a counseling team, we want to partner with parents to help our students be successful in all areas of life,” Bullard High School counselor Jody Clark said. “Being able to provide education to parents on topics they are interested in is one small way we can do that.”

Parents planning to attend Friday’s Coffee with the Counselors event are asked to park on the south side of the high school parking lot along the curb by the stadium and will enter the auditorium through door #6.
