Bullard Middle School students showcase artwork in Tyler Museum of Art exhibit
Eighty Bullard Middle School students recently showcased their artwork in the Tyler Museum of Art Day of the Dead exhibit. The exhibit features artwork from students in schools across East Texas in celebration of the Mexican cultural tradition of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead.
“Exploring cultures helps develop an understanding and respect for others and allows us to create meaningful interactions within our community,” BMS art teacher Rachel Mann said. “Celebrating our differences in a powerful and meaningful way encourages art.”
Seventh-graders were challenged to create a sugar skull with bright colors and designs that mimicked those they learned about in class. Eighth-graders were challenged with making theirs a little more meaningful, Mrs. Mann said. Their sugar skulls included a creative spin with other objects.
“I am excited to say our pieces were front and center when you walked into the museum,” Mrs. Mann said. Congratulations students!
