Bullard ISD completes Prop B projects of Bullard Bond 2022; Prop A projects on track

Bullard ISD is pleased to announce the completion of the Bullard Bond 2022 Proposition B projects. In May 2022, voters approved both Propositions A and B, totaling $103 million. Proposition B, which involved an investment of $21 million, included the new Bullard ISD Athletic Complex (which opened for the 2024 baseball, softball, and spring tennis seasons) and the Bullard ISD Indoor Multipurpose Facility. Although students have been using these facilities already, the construction process for both projects is now officially complete.

“We are thrilled with the results of our Bullard Bond 2022 Proposition B projects,” said Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee. “Our students have been utilizing the athletic complex and indoor facility for about a year since the fall while construction crews worked on exterior landscaping and completing the final details. Thanks to the excellent oversight and guidance from our contractor, Berry and Clay, and the architects at Claycomb and Associates, we were able to complete these projects on time and within budget.”

Proposition A projects, totaling $82 million, are also progressing as scheduled. These projects include:

  • A new Middle School at the corner of HWY 69 and FM2493 to accommodate 6th-8th grades;
  • An expansion of the Bullard High School kitchen and cafeteria;
  • An addition connecting Bullard Primary School and Bullard Elementary School to serve Pre-K through 2nd Grade as a single campus;
  • Renovations to the existing Bullard Middle School to transform it into an intermediate campus for 3rd through 5th grade students.

Construction of the new middle school building is progressing well. It is planned to open in August for the 2025-2026 school year. This approximately 175,000-square-foot facility will feature state-of-the-art classrooms for academics, special education, career and technical education, fine arts, science labs, a media center, a competition turf field, a track, four tennis courts, and more.

“Our aim is for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students to begin the 2025-2026 school year in the new middle school,” Dr. Lee stated. “As always, construction projects can be fluid, so we are prepared to adjust our plans to ensure the safety of all our students and staff. These are the only grades that will shift at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year; any changes for additional grades and campuses will likely not occur until the 2026-2027 school year to facilitate a smoother transition.”

Crews will begin work on the additions to the Elementary and Primary schools and the expansion of the high school kitchen and cafeteria in the upcoming weeks. The renderings for both projects can be viewed on the Bullard Bond 2022 website at www.bullardisd.net/bond2022.

“The last project to complete under Bullard Bond 2022 will be the renovation of the existing middle school, which will ultimately serve 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades,” Dr. Lee explained. “For the safety of our students and staff, we cannot begin work at this campus until the students and staff have fully transitioned to the new middle school in August.”
