trustees and dr. lee cut ribbon to open new athletic complex

The Panther community celebrated the grand opening of the new Bullard ISD Athletic Complex on Thursday, Jan. 25. More than 300 people attended the celebration to get a first look at the new home for Bullard Baseball, Softball, and Tennis.

Dr. Lee speaks at complex opening

During a brief ceremony to kick off the celebration, Superintendent Dr. Jack Lee welcomed guests and spoke about how the project came to fruition. He mentioned that the process began about three years ago when the district started evaluating its plans to address its facilities and the amount of student growth happening in the district. The District formed a community facility advisory committee to assess the current academic and athletic spaces and evaluate where the district is moving in the future. The committee then presented their findings to our Board of Trustees, ultimately leading to the Trustees calling for a bond to add new academic spaces and athletic facilities. The community voted overwhelmingly to support the bond in May 2022, allowing the design and construction phases to begin.

The Bullard ISD Athletic Complex includes 12 tennis courts, artificial turf playing surfaces for the baseball and softball fields, covered batting cages, in-dugout team restroom facilities, spectator restrooms, full concessions, and more. Although the facility is ready for use, Dr. Lee told guests that the recent ice and rain delayed the completion of a few ongoing projects. Some of these projects include additional parking, installation of windscreens and spectator bleacher awnings on the tennis courts, additional bleacher sections for baseball and softball, and a few other minor finishes.
