Board Led Advocacy
Advocacy for Release of ESSER Federal Funds
There is currently nearly $18 billion in federal funding through ESSER II and ESSER III. Unfortunately, schools in Texas have yet to see a federal stimulus dollar (supplemental or otherwise) from either ESSER II or III.
The state of Texas used the first round of federal stimulus money dedicated to public schools to supplant state funding. As a result, Bullard ISD did not receive any funding in addition to what was already scheduled to occur through our regular state allotments.
Currently, ESSER II and ESSER III funding has not been passed on to public schools. Bullard ISD is estimated to be eligible for $1,120,451 in ESSER II funds and $2,521,015 in ESSER III funds.
This unanimously adopted resolution is a commitment by the Bullard ISD Board of Trustees to encourage and urge our state elected and appointed officials to do everything possible to ensure that public schools receive these funds.
Advocacy for Broadband Internet Access
Access to high-speed broadband internet is limited or not available, especially in rural areas. Bullard ISD is no exception and homes throughout our district do not have access to reliable internet access. The Bullard ISD Board of Trustees is committed to advocating on behalf of the students of Bullard ISD and throughout the state of Texas to our locally elected officials.
This unanimously adopted resolution is a commitment by the Bullard ISD Board of Trustees advocating for all Texans, no matter the size of their community, to have dependable and affordable access to high-speed internet. It urges our elected officials to act promptly to create a statewide broadband internet service plan to ensure equitable and affordable opportunities for rural students to access fully the benefits and privileges of the Texas public school system without regard to geographic residence.
