ACCOUNTING
Accounting students are guided through the basic accounting principles in hopes that they will gain enough confidence and skill to be successful in a college level accounting course, to keep their own books for a small business, or to prepare their own tax return. We learn to journalize and post transactions for many types of businesses which leads into the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial forms. We also learn about inventory control, payroll taxes, and loan interest calculations.
Most of our work is paper based but we also use a computer accounting program. This allows the students to understand the underlying concepts behind the program as well as the benefits of using a computerized accounting program to save time and money.
