FAQ:
Q-What is an Education Foundation?
A-An Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves as a “bridge” between the community and the school district. Through donations and other types of support, a Foundation provides funds to the public school district based on the Foundation’s objectives and goals.
Q- What are the objectives and goals of the Bullard Education Foundation?
A-Well, you can find our goals listed on this website and we are focusing on 3 primary objectives. First, we are providing grants to teachers and staff for the purpose of creative learning and innovative teaching. Second, we are going to recognize student and teacher achievement in multiple ways; and third, we are developing scholarships for outgoing seniors.
Q- How is the Bullard Education Foundation organized?
A- We are a 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit organization that is governed by a board of directors and officers. The make-up of the Bullard Education Foundation consists of individuals from a diverse cross-section of the community who all have a vision of Bullard ISD being the premier public school district in this area.
Q- Doesn’t the district already have enough money to provide to the teachers?
A- The district is doing a wonderful job of budgeting and being fiscally responsible in their spending, and our teachers and staff are well equipped for the day to day process of educating our children. However, many times a teacher or staff member comes up with an innovative idea that would greatly enhance the educational experience of the students; and that “project” requires some expense. In most cases, the teacher has to provide the funds out of her/his own pocket with no reimbursement. The Foundation provides those funds through grants and not only financially ensures the project will take place, but also encourages more of the same innovative projects.
Q- How are these objectives going to make a difference?
A- Our objectives will function to promote more creative teaching in the classroom and enable teachers to “touch” some students who may otherwise be idle learners. These grants, coupled with achievement recognition, will positively affect morale in both students and teachers thereby improving the overall educational process. Ultimately, the district will produce a higher level of student that moves to the next stage and begins positively impacting our communities. The Foundation also provides an avenue for community members, business leaders and family members to have a direct impact on the Bullard School system and become involved in the process.
Q- Is the Bullard Education Foundation part of Bullard ISD?
A- No, the Foundation exists independently from the district; however, we have the full support of the Bullard ISD School Board as well as the Superintendent. In fact, the district realized very early that an education foundation in Bullard would be a great benefit in enhancing the educational experience and providing community connection within the district. We are currently working “hand in hand” with the district on all phases of our process.
