BEF Kickoff Event - Building Tomorrow’s Future Today – One Mind at a Time
The Bullard Education Foundation had its kick-off reception on Monday, November 16 at KE Bushman’s Winery & Celebration Center in Bullard. It was an eventful evening with over 100 people in attendance. The theme for the evening was “Building Tomorrow’s Future Today, One Mind at a Time.”
The sole purpose of the education foundation is to benefit the Bullard Independent School District by providing funds for educational programs and activities which are not funded by the normal operating budget. Speakers included Foundation President, Darren Davis; BISD Superintendent, Keith Bryant; and Foundation Director and Secretary Susan Smith.
School Board member, Karen Padrucco, made a surprise announcement. Mrs. Padrucco announced that her mother-in-law, Maurine Padrucco, was donating $5,400 dollars from a scholarship established in her name to the Education Foundation. Mrs. Maurine Padrucco is a long-time Bullard resident. She taught in the Bullard schools for 30 years, retired, and then worked in the Bullard schools as a counsel for an additional 18 years.
The donation made by Mrs. Padrucco, in addition to other donations and future commitments made at the event, will go towards funding grants, achievement recognition and scholarships. Bullard ISD teachers and staff have had the opportunity to apply for grants through an on-line application. The grant application process for this year has closed and grants will be awarded in January.
