Bullard Education Foundation awards 15 innovative teaching grants totaling over $31,000
The Bullard Education Foundation awarded 15 innovative teaching grants to teachers, staff and students in Bullard ISD during a special awards tour Dec. 2.
The total grant amount exceeded $31,000. Every Bullard ISD campus received at least two grant awards, meaning the entire student body will benefit from innovative teaching tools, resources and methods provided by these grants. “It’s an exciting day for the teachers and staff, but most importantly, it’s an exciting day for the kids of Bullard,” said Darren Davis, the Foundation’s President.
The theme this year was a Christmas giving theme, which applies directly to the Foundation’s mission of reaching out to the community to give back to the schools. “It’s a great day when we can take the money we’ve raised, and do exactly what we set out to do which is get it straight into the classrooms to enhance learning for all students. When the kids benefit, we all do,” added Davis.
In order for a grant request to qualify for awarding, it must be innovative, researched, have significant impact on student learning, and not be eligible for normal district funding. Tisha White, the Foundation’s marketing director, said, “Many times, teachers come up with a wonderful teaching idea or tool, but are faced with either paying for it out-of-pocket, or doing without. That’s where the Foundation steps in.” |
The Bullard Education Foundation family is comprised of a group of business, community and neighborhood volunteers working together to provide resources to enhance the learning environment in our schools. We generate our financial resources through grants, donations and fundraisers to invest in innovative, creative teacher and student programs not otherwise funded by the district.
We are striving to make the Bullard school district the best it can be.
The Foundation is an independent 501(c) (3) organization. All contributions will stay in Bullard ISD and are tax-deductible to the extent provided by law. |
